Trigger and Measurement during Remote Control
The NRT provides the trigger modes external trigger and freerun mode.
The external trigger mode (
:TRIG:SOUR EXT
) is set by the NRT as a default mode for remote control
upon each switchover from local to remote operation. In this mode the measurement can be triggered
by an external signal only.
The NRT recognizes the following equivalent trigger events:
−
the IEC-commands *TRG, READ? and TRIG,
−
a positive signal ramp at the external trigger input AUX TTL on the rear panel of the instrument.
*TRG
The command *TRG (Common Command) triggers a measurement and returns the measured result
in the ASCII format.
CALL IBWRT(sensor%,
"
*TRG
"
)
CALL IBRD(sensor%, Measvalue$)
PRINT Measvalue$
Indication e. g..: +4.00,+4.00560E-01
READ?
The command READ? (Measurement Instruction) is equivalent to the command *TRG. However, the
measured values are transmitted as binary data.
CALL IBWRT(sensor%,
"
READ?
"
)
CALL IBRD(sensor%, Measvalue$)
PRINT Measvalue$
Indication e.g.: #18

TRIG
The command TRIG (Subsystem TRIGger) only triggers a measurement. After the measurement is
terminated the result can be queried any time by sending the command
SENS<n>:DATA?
. With the
command *WAI, written in the same command line as TRIG, the NRT is commanded to terminate
the measurement before executing the next command line.
CALL IBWRT(sensor%,
"
TRIG;*WAI
"
)
CALL IBWRT(sensor%,
"
SENS<n>:DATA?
"
)
CALL IBRD(sensor%, Measvalue$)
PRINT Measvalue$
Indication e.g.: +4.00,+4.00560E-01
For external triggering via a TTL-signal at the AUX TTL connector the controller doesn't generally
send the trigger event itself. In order to recognize the end of a measurement, it can order the NRT to
generate a service request SRQ when a triggered measurement is terminated. As soon as the SRQ
arrives at the controller, the measured result can be queried by the command
SENS<n>:DATA?.
