:SYSTem:COMMunicate:SERial

This node provides the commands for checking the serial remote-control interface. The interface
is factory-set to 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit. These settings cannot be changed. Regard-
ing the serial interface, the instrument is a DTE (data terminal equipment). The connection to the
controller must therefore be established via a modem bypass cable.

The command defines the transmission rate for transmission and reception.

This command switches the software handshake mode on (XON) or off (NONE).

Example:

This command switches the hardware handshake mode off (OFF) or on (IBFull, RFR).

:SYSTem:ERRor?

This query returns the next item from the error queue and removes that item from the queue.
Positive error numbers denote device-specific errors, negative error numbers denote the error
messages defined by SCPI  (See Appendix B). If the error queue is empty, the NRT returns 0, ie
"No error". The operation is identical to that of STATus:QUEue[:NEXT]?.

Response: -221, “Settings conflict“

:SYSTem:PRESet

This command causes a reset of the instrument. It has the same effect as UTILity - SETUP -
RECALL 0 in the manual control mode or as the *RST command. This command triggers an
event and therefore has no *RST value.

:SYSTem:VERSion?

This query returns the SCPI version number supported by the instrument This command is a
query and therefore has no *RST value.

Example:

:SYST:VERS?

Response: 1995.0
