REF (Reference Value for Relative Power Measurements)
The
∆
REF menu is used to define the reference value for indication of the result in the relative units %
or dB (see Section 2.3.9
)
.
CONFig - SPEC -

REF:
The currently valid value is indicated upon calling up the menu. As an alternative to a user-defined ref-
erence value, the currently measured power can be used as a reference upon actuating the
RE F
key.
The reference value may be entered in W or dBm (use the cursor keys
and
for switchover at the
units position).

SWR.ALARM (SWR Monitoring)
The
CONFig - SPEC - SWR.ALARM
function is used to configure a mechanism for monitoring the SWR
of the load so that a warning can be output in the form of an acoustic or electrical signal. The menu item
SWR.ALARM described here is used to define the conditions under which an alarm is to be triggered.
The type of alarm has to be configured via the menu
UTIL-BEEPER
(acoustic, see section 2.5.7) or
UTIL-AUX/IO
(electrical, see section 2.5.9).
The alarm is triggered above a user-defined standing wave ratio
(SWR)
. To prevent the alarm mecha-
nism from responding at low uncritical powers, an additional threshold must be entered for the forward
power
(THRESHOLD),
below which no alarm will be given.
By entering a sufficiently high power threshold (1 MW or similar), the alarm mechanism can be totally
switched off. No acoustic alarm will be given for forward powers below this threshold, even if the maxi-
mum SWR is considerably exceeded.
After confirming the
SWR.ALARM
option in the
SPEC
menu, first the SWR-limit and then the power
threshold is requested. The entries must be confirmed with the SEL(LOCAL) key.
