MAINTENANCE
CORRECT DIAGNOSTIC RESULT
FAULT: Smudged characters and/or figures or smudges all over the page.
CAUSE
A1
The paper used has a particularly porous surface.
B1
There is a foreign body on the printing nib which
the print head pad cannot remove.
SOLUTION
Try printing on the other side of the paper or
changing the type of paper.
Remove the print cartridge and check whether
there is a foreign body on the nib. If there is,
remove it with care and make sure you do not
touch the electrical contacts. Clean the print
head pad with a cotton wool stick soaked in
water, taking care not to leave lint on it.
FAULT: Incomplete characters or white lines on the characters and/or figures or all over the page.
CAUSE
A2
The print cartridge was replaced or reinserted
incorrectly.
B2
One or more nozzles are incorrectly directed or
do not print (blocked).
SOLUTION
Remove and reinsert the print cartridge. If the
fault persists, clean the electrical contacts of
the print cartridge with a dry cotton wool stick
and the electrical contacts of the print cartridge
holder with a soft, dry cloth. If the fault persists,
see B2.
Purge the print head and then check the print
head nozzles. If the fault persists, repeat the
print head purging procedure three times. Run
a print test (local copy). If the quality is
acceptable, this means that it is a minor fault.
Press STOP to remove the message "CHECK
NOZZLES". If the quality is poor, replace the
print head.
