RECEPTION
MANUAL RECEPTION WITH THE FAX/PHONE SWITCH ENABLED
With the fax/phone parameter enabled, the facsimile machine recognizes whether an incoming call is a
facsimile or a telephone call. When this parameter is enabled, the facsimile machine is automatically set for
manual reception. Automatic reception can be re-enabled by setting the relevant operating configuration
parameter (see the "PROGRAMMING" chapter). This feature is useful in that it enables you to use the
facsimile and telephone on the same line.
o
The facsimile machine is on. The “FAX/PHONE SWITCH” parameter has been enabled in the operating
configuration (see the “Setting the operating configuration parameters” section of the “PROGRAMMING”
chapter. The message “FAX/PHONE” appears on the second line of the display.
When you receive a call, the telephone rings and the facsimile machine (with the fax/phone switch
enabled) checks whether it is a facsimile or a telephone call.
If it is a facsimile call:
1.
The facsimile machine prepares to receive the document.
The message “IN RX” appears on the first line and the correspondent’s number appears on the second
line.
2.
Once reception has been completed, the facsimile machine beeps and returns to stand-by mode.
If the “LAST RX REPORT” parameter has been enabled in the operating configuration, the facsimile
machine will print the report at the end of reception.
If the machine beeps and the error LED comes on during reception, this means that an error has occurred
(e.g. an interruption in the connection). If this is the case, press STOP to switch off the LED and call the
remote user to ask him to send the document again.
If it is a telephone call:
1.
The machine beeps for a time programmed by the installation technician and the message “TALK” blinks
on the display.
2.
Lift the handset and talk as normal.
If you do not lift the handset within a few seconds, the facsimile machine prepares to receive a document.
If the handset remains off the hook at the end of the conversation, the facsimile machine beeps and the
message “HANDSET OFF HOOK” appears on the display. Hang up.
If you want to send or receive a document at the end of the conversation, follow the procedure described
in the “Sending or receiving a document after a telephone conversation” section of the “COMPLEMENTARY
FUNCTIONS” chapter.
