COMPLEMENTARY FUNCTIONS
If the fax machine hears nothing for six seconds (the caller leaves no message or at the end of the recorded
message), it is set for automatic reception. This period of silence can be changed by setting the SILENCE
TIMEOUT parameter, set to six seconds by default.
If the silence timeout set on the telephone answering device is shorter than the timeout set on the fax machine,
the TAD interrupts the connection. If this mode of operation, which stops the fax machine preparing for
reception, prevents the caller sending a fax during the same call, the value set as the SILENCE TIMEOUT
configuration parameter of the fax machine must be changed.
