Manual Loop Range Adjustments and Playback Position
Manual adjustments of the Loop Range can also affect the playhead position:
▪
If the playhead is within the Loop Range it will stay within it no matter how the Loop
Range is moved or resized:
◦
As you move the Loop Range’s start point (or the whole Loop Range) to the right in
the Arranger, if the start point reaches the playhead position the playhead will follow
the start point to the right as long as necessary in order to stay within the Loop Range.
◦
As you move the Loop Range’s end point (or the whole Loop Range) to the left in the
Arranger, if the end point reaches the playhead position, the playhead will jump to the
Loop Range’s start point.
▪
If the playhead was outside the Loop Range and gets into the Loop Range (because of the
normal playback, a change in the Loop Range or any other reason), the above applies.
▪
Any resulting jump of the playhead will be based on the same rules as when you move it
manually — see section
12.1.4, Jumping to Another Playback Position in Your Project
more information.
12.3.2 Jumping to Other Scenes
If you set a new Loop Range by selecting another Scene or group of Scenes as described in
section
12.3.1, Selecting a Loop Range
, the playback will jump to the new Loop Range. This
way you can easily move the playback position to other Scenes and adapt your song live.
You can also move the playback position manually as described in section
Jumping to Another Playback Position in Your Project
MASCHINE provides you with two additional settings to fine-tune the jumps between the
Scene currently playing and the next Scene that is selected:
▪
The Perform Grid lets you quantize the Scene transitions: You can choose the point at which
the playback will leave the current Scene. For example, you might not want a newly select-
ed loop to fire off immediately — you might want it to wait until the next bar line. The
available quantization values are: one bar, one half note, one quarter note, one eighth note,
one sixteenth note, the whole Scene, and Off. If you choose Off, the Scene change will be
performed immediately after you select the next loop.
