STEP 1
Connect the smart tester
Turn the ignition ON
Initialise the diagnostic tool
Record the DTC and clear
Turn ignition OFF
Turn ignition ON
Verify if P0403 is present?
Is P0403 present?
Intermittent problem exists
Refer the intermittent problem
inspection procedure
STEP 2
Ignition OFF
Check and confirm the proper
function of 15 A fuse (F15) in
engine compartment fuse box
EGR modulator wiring harness
connector (C42) DISCONNECTED
Ignition ON
Check the voltage between
between pin 2 of EGR
modulator wiring harness
connector and battery ground
Examine the open circuit of
EGR modulator control wire
Replace the wiring harness
Clear the DTC and verify
Suspect EGR modulator internal
failure
Replace EGR modulator with a
new one.
Check and verify for any new
DTC’s
STEP 3
Ignition OFF
EGR modulator wiring harness
connector (C42) DISCONNECTED
EMS ECU wiring harness
connector(C4) DISCONNECTED
Check the continuity between
pin 1 of EGR modulator wiring
harness connector and pin 49 of
the EMS ECU wiring harness
connector
Is the continuity
exists?
Is the value =Vbat?
Examine the open/short to
ground of EGR modulator
power supply wire from main
relay
Replace the wiring harness
Check and verify for any new
DTC’s
