VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR PLAUSIBILITY ERROR
VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS)
Vehicle Speed Sensor(VSS) is hall sensor type and senses the rotating speed of the transmission output
shaft . Comparing engine speed with vehicle speed calculated based on vehicle speed sensor signal, ECU
recognizes engaged gear. Based on the information about engaged gear, ECU performs optimum fuel
injection quantity correction
DTC INFORMATION
PROBABLE CAUSES OF FAILURE
NORMAL OPERATION
Ignition ON
When the vehicle is driven , VSS outputs a pulse signal to the
EMS ECU and is within the range
DTC DETECTING CONDITIONS
Ignition ON
EMS ECU supply voltage 8-16V
Clutch is engaged and gear not in neutral but the VSS sensor
output remains same for more than calibrated time
DTC REACTIONS
All the load dependent functions e.g. FBC, ZFC are switched off
Vehicle may feel jerky while driving
HEALING CONDITION
Ignition Off/On
Short /open in VSS circuit
Faulty VSS
