STEP 1
Connect the smart tester
Turn the ignition ON
Initialise the diagnostic tool
Record the DTC and clear
Turn ignition OFF
Turn ignition ON
Verify if P170E is present?
Is P170E present?
Intermittent problem exists
Refer the intermittent problem
inspection procedure
STEP 2
Ignition OFF
Remove the starter relay
Check the continuity between
pin 1 of the starter relay
seating (C70) and battery
ground
Is the continuity
exists?
Examine the short circuit of
starter relay control signal wire
with ground
Replace the wiring harness
Clear the DTC and verify
Suspect EMS ECU malfunction
Replace EMS ECU with a new
one.
Check and verify for any new
DTC’s
