23. With the drain valve fully open, carefully slide the SSP extension tube further into the drain
valve until the Instrument Side Adapter meets the Drain Valve Side Adapter. Ensure that all
the holes correctly line up and that the Bleed Valve is pointing down.
24. Reattach 2 machine screws diagonally from one another first. Use an Allen wrench to
tighten and ensure a flat surface/tight fit of the adapters. Install the remaining 4 screws.
Note: Due to the tight space, a Ball End Allen Wrench or Stubby Allen Wrench is
recommended, but a standard Allen Wrench will also work.
25. Check for leaks. If you encounter leaks, remove the 6 machine screws from the previous step
to pull out the SSP just past the gate
and close the valve. Fix any leaks and reinstall.
26. Chain and lock the drain valve open. Install a tag on the drain valve warning individuals that
there is an extension going through the valve and to not close the valve without removing
the extension.
Caution: Failure to remove the extension before closing the valve could potentially
damage the valve.
27. Install a tag on the bleed valve warning individuals to keep the bleed valve fully closed
unless sampling oil.
28. Proceed to Chapter 5 to install the SmartDGA instrument.
Secure with 2
diagonal screws
first. Then tighten
remaining 4 screws
