Selecting modes while receiving
RDS-stations
RDS (Radio Data System) trans-
mits additional information signals in
the digitized form together with
broadcasting signal: station identifi-
cation code (PI, Programme Identi-
fication), radio text, standard time
signals, traffic information, etc.
Receiving RDS-signals extends serv-
ice capabilities of the receiver.
Receiving RDS-stations is avail-
able in FM2 (87-108) MHz. Availability
of RDS functions depends on a spe-
cific RDS station.
Switching on alternative
frequency receive mode
If a signal level of the received sta-
tion is poor (for example, when mov-
ing from one area to another), the
RDS system is automatically tuned to
other RDS stations with a high signal
level, broadcasting the same pro-
gramme of the same radio station
(with the same PI-code), but at anoth-
er broadcasting frequency (alterna-
tive frequency). If a radio station with
this programme at alternative fre-
quencies is absent, the radio receiver
remains tuned to the current station.
Press button
AF
(see Fig. 45t) in the
receiver settings window to activate
the alternative frequency reception
mode. While losing signal strength of
the received radio station the receiver
will be automatically switched to the
search mode of the received radio
station at alternative frequency of
broadcasting. To disable the alterna-
tive frequency reception mode press
button
AF
repeatedly.
