DEFENSIVE PARKING SYSTEM
In the design variant vehicles
are equipped with the parktronic
defensive parking system. Due to
this system you may avoid minor
accidents that involve material costs.
Parking sensors (Fig. 48) will help
you to detect dangerous obstacle,
invisible from inside the vehicle.
Any obstacle behind the vehicle is
detected with the system by ultra-
sonic sensors operating on the prin-
ciple of echolocation. The system is
designed to warn the driver of
approaching to the obstacle when
reversing. Warning the driver of
approaching to the obstacle and
informing about the distance to the
obstacle is carried out with the audi-
ble warning device.
With the ignition and reverse gear
on the system comes into operation
automatically, with a bleep. If the
obstacle is in the detection zone, the
system informs the driver of the
obstacle by intermittent or continu-
ous horn, depending on the distance
to the obstacle, thus the vehicle can
move in reverse or stand.
When approaching to the obsta-
cle, starting from a distance of about
100 cm, the system gives an inter-
mittent high alarm, the frequency of
which increases when approaching
to the obstacle and which gets inter-
mittent at a distance between the
bumper and the obstacle of about
40 cm.
Important Note:
It should be borne in mind that
complete stop of the vehicle will take
some time, depending on the reac-
tion of the driver, weather conditions,
road conditions, braking system fea-
tures, vehicle inertia, therefore, when
actuating the parking system the
driver is obliged to minimize the
speed and stop the vehicle at inter-
mittent alarm.
ATTENTION!
Parking system is an auxiliary
system that helps the driver to
judge the distance to the detect-
ed obstacle.
Backing run is considered to be a
manoeuvre of higher risk. The driver,
in accordance with the requirements
of the «Road rules» must ensure the
safety of the maneuver before start-
ing it and during driving. For this, be
sure to monitor the situation behind
the vehicle by the side mirrors and
the rear view mirror.
The parking system includes:
– control unit with diagnostic
function that is installed into the lug-
gage compartment;
– three ultrasonic sensors
installed to the rear bumper;
– alarm sounder mounted on a
bracket with the control unit.
Parking system operation and
maintenance features:
1. After actuating the system it
has a beep, then the control unit car-
ries out due diligence in order to
detect faulty sensors or other sys-
tem malfunctions.
If there was detected a faulty sen-
sor or other failure of the system,
after the switch signal a continuous
low chime arises for 3 seconds, then:
