matically. It depends on whether
there are raindrops on the wind-
shield.
The cleaning system only works
when the ignition is on.
To enable the cleaning system
you should change rain sensor sen-
sitivity switch 1 (see Fig. 37), located
behind the rear-view mirror from
position
0 to any position from 1 to
4* , and the wiper lever to position III
(intermittent operation). At the same
the wiper blades make one move,
and then they will be turned on or off
depending on the number of rain-
drops on the windshield.
If the cleaning system has already
been enabled, when switching on the
ignition the wiper blades also make
one move and the cleaning system
comes into operation.
When detecting a fault the clean-
ing system will be automatically
switched to «manual» wiper control.
To disable the automatic cleaning
system and switch to the «manual»
wiper control you should change the
rain sensor sensitivity switch to posi-
tion
0 (extreme left position). In this
mode the manual control of wiper
lever assembly to appropriate posi-
tion is carried out.
When switching off the ignition the
wiper also stops. Blades are set to
park position.
If the wiper had worked in one
mode at a constant speed of clean-
ing until the ignition was off, after
switching off the ignition the wiper
blades can stop in the non-park
position.To switch the brushes to the
park position you should change the
wiper lever to position
I or III no later
than in 30 seconds after switching
off the ignition.
To remove smudges, deposits of
road salt or pavement elements,
periodically clean the wiper blades
and windows with washer fluid. Fat,
wax, insects etc. on the windshield
can lead to hunting of the wipers and
appearance of smudges on the win-
dow. If smudges are not removed
after applying the washer fluid, clean
the outside of the window and wiper
blades with a soft cloth using special
detergents. After cleaning, wash the
window and wiper blades with water.
ATTENTION!
1. To prevent damage, do not
turn on the windshield wiper with
the bonnet opened.
2. Do not switch on the wiper
when the windshield is dry. This
may result in scratches on the
window or damage the wiper
blades. Before switching on the
wipers in dry window always use
the window washer.
3. If wiper blades are frozen to
the window, before switching on
the wiper you should first switch
on windshield heating (see the
section «Ventilation and heating
modes»). Attempt to switch on
the wipers with blades frozen to
the window can damage rubber
tape of blades.
4. Do not clean the wiper
blades with petrol or solvent, it
will damage them.
