This section provides a brief de-
scription of some kinds of works on
technical maintenance and operat-
ing repair of the vehicle.
Full technique of maintenance, re-
pair and scrappage of vehicles can
be provided by certified SSNEs,
which are equipped with special
equipment and instrument. Mainte-
nance and repair of your vehicle
must be carried out in strict compli-
ance with the requirements of the
vehicle log book for your vehicle.
All operations in the engine com-
partment must be carried out after
opening the bonnet (see the section
«Bonnet»).

REPAIR OF THE VEHICLE
With the engine running, engine
oil consumption is normal. The value
of oil consumption depends on driv-
ing style of the vehicle and it is
determined with engine load and
engine shaft speed. In the initial
operating period the oil consump-
tion is slightly increased.
Therefore, you should regularly,
especially before long journeys,
check the oil level in the engine
case.
The oil level is checked in a cold
dead engine when the vehicle is on
horizontal surface. The level should
be between
MIN
or
MAX
oil level
indicator marks 1 (Fig. 49а) or
between the upper and lower edges
of the corrugated surface of indica-
tor 1 (Fig. 49b) depending on the
engine model. If necessary, top up
the oil through the filler, closed by
plug 2.
After topping up the oil level
should be checked no sooner than
in three minutes to give topped up
portion of the oil time to drain into
the engine case. To measure the oil
