A brushless gear motor with a mechanical coupling is used as
standard. Depending on the size of the vessel, two motors with dif-
ferent power levels are used; see the “Technical data” section,
sub-section “Stirrer specifications”.

The motor is connected by pushing it onto the drive hub on the top
plate.
3.6 Gassing System
The following gases can be used:
Air
Oxygen (O
2
) or nitrogen (N
2
)
The basic unit is equipped and configured with two mass flow con-
trollers for controlling the gas flow and, if necessary, the gas mix-
ture. If oxygen or nitrogen are used in addition to air, the gases are
mixed before being fed into the culture vessel. Both the gas flow
rate(s) and the composition of the gas mixture (where applicable)
are set using the operating panel. For more details, see the “Oper-
ation” section.
