Materials
The metallic materials used for the construction of bars, such as steel alloy or alu
-
minum, confer different characteristics to the chassis frame and determine its re
-
sistance properties and flexibility.
HMC recommends that no changes should be made to the original vehicle chassis. If
it is necessary to carry out some modifications, for instance to extend the wheel
-
base or rear overhang, the materials used in such cases must match the materials
and dimensions of the original chassis.
The different types of material used by HMC to build chassis frames for vehicles
given in this manual, and their main properties, are:

Main sections
The sections of the chassis beams consist of a closed profile formed by two folded
sheets welded together. This configuration offers great resistance as well as a good
flexibility, and reduces the weight of the structure greatly.
