General considerations
The electrical systems installed in the HMC vehicles incorporate all the elements
necessary for efficient driving, and always comply with the relevant national and
European standards and provisions, which must be considered a minimum require
-
ment. Additionally, it is possible to add other electrical equipment and facilities that
have been ordered by the customer for use in the operation of the body, such as
equipment for additional lamps, additional fuss boxes, trailer connection, etc.
There are numerous occasions where additional installations need to be added to
the vehicle according to the use for which it is finally intended. For example, in the
case of the conversion of the vehicle into motor caravan, additional wiring must be
installed, to service the small appliances to be installed in the interior (lamps, refrig
-
erator, TV, kitchen). In commercial vehicles it might also be necessary to install ex
-
haust fans, interior lamps in the cargo bay, etc.
Any new installation, and the possible modifications produced in the electrical sys
-
tems, must always comply with the guidelines contained in this manual, as, if this is
not the case, this can lead to failures, which could cause the total stoppage of the
vehicle, or even cause the driver to lose of control of it and cause an accident. Eu
-
ropean specifications and the regulations and laws of each country must also be
followed.
An electrical system that operates at 12 V is normally installed in the Hyundai Light
Commercial Vehicle (LCV) range. The chassis frame serves as the earth connection,
which works as the return path for the current from the electrical components dis
-
tributed along the vehicle up to the power supply (battery or alternator).
See chapter 7.3.4 "Earth wire".
When working on the electrical system of the vehicle, the following guidelines
should be followed:
- To prevent damage to the electrical system, the wire from the negative terminal
of the battery must be disconnected before removing the electrical compo
-
nents.
See chapter 7.4 "Handling batteries".
NOTICE
HMC is not responsible for malfunctions of the electrical system if the instruc
-
tions in this manual are not followed.
NOTICE
In cases where modifications or new installations in the vehicle are important, the
Body Builder will develop its own wiring diagrams and add them to the official
documentation for the vehicle. If the modifications and new installations will
affect the original systems of the vehicle, HMC should be contacted, to review the
documentation and see if everything is suitable for approval.
