The centre of the front or rear axle (O) is normally taken as a reference point.
The calculations are performed on the basis of the formulas of static equilibrium:
- The sum of all the strengths acting on a body is equal to zero.
- The sum of the moments and torques exerted to a body around a point is zero.
(Law of the lever).
In this case, as it said, the pivot point is the theoretical centre of the front axle (O)
(sometimes the rear axle can also be used).
