4.10.2 Exhaust system
Before starting modification work in the exhaust system, the Body Builder should
check whether it is possible to use a standard variant provided by HMC from facto

ry, e.g. with different pipe dimensions and lengths, different sizes of tanks, connec

tion types, etc.
If this is not the case, it is recommended that the advice given in this manual should
be followed:
- Modification of the exhaust system is only permitted in the area located behind
the muffler. The location of each component of the system is carefully studied,
to optimise its performance.

- The same sections and materials must be used as those used in the original
tube.
- A minimum distance of at least 150 mm must always be maintained between it
and other elements belonging to other vehicle systems, e.g. electrical compo
-
nents, tyres, plastic pipes. Thermal protective covers shall be installed where
these clearances are not achieved.
