Subframe on roof
In vehicles such as motor caravans or vehicles with integrated bodies, where the
body is installed on the roof of the cab, a perimeter frame or subframe must be in
-
stalled to strengthen the structure of the cab which has previously been cut.
This subframe on the roof or roof subframe also serves as a junction between the
cab and the upper body.
When cutting the roof of the cab, the following guidelines must be considered:
- The height of the cab roof can be reduced by 70 mm at the most.
- The cutting area must be reinforced and properly adapted to the installation of
the roof subframe.
- After modification, the cab must be properly painted in the affected areas.
- The original positions of the sun visors or other standard equipment must not
be changed, but their fixation points can be moved.
- The inner roof lining should also be properly adapted.
Once all work has been carried out on the cab, a roof subframe must be attached.
The fixation of the subframe can only be effected on the designated areas and by
bolting. (Recommended: M10x20 10.9 with a torque of 40 Nm)

NOTICE
HMC could provide the vehicle with the cut cab and the roof subframe from
factory. This option is more strongly recommended.
In this case, please contact HMC.
See General Book, chapter 2.4 “Contact possibilities“.
