Communication Systems
In general, receiving/emission equipment should not be used in the cabin without an
external antenna. These devices cause extremely high intensity fields in the cabin,
which can cause malfunction or failure of the electronic components. Moreover, the
intense electromagnetic fields are harmful to health.
See chapter 7.1 "Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)".
It is therefore recommended that the system should be installed by an authorised
installation centre, where the correct connection of the external antenna can be
verified.
All the electronic systems that are going to be installed in the vehicle must be ap
-
proved according to Directive 2004/108/EC. They should meet also the requirements
of regulation ECE R10 and have the "e" marking.
See chapter 7.1 "Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)".
When installing communication equipment in the vehicle, the following requirements
should be taken into account:
- The equipment used in vehicle operation, for example, a remote control for the
functions of the vehicle body, should not affect the vehicle‘s functions.
- Existing lines should not be moved or used for additional purposes.
- The installation of new communication devices must not hinder access to other
vehicle components that need maintenance or occasional repairs.
- Care should be taken not to mount communication systems in the area of
impact of the airbags.
- The communication antenna should located outside the cabin, and be positioned
on a metal base connected to vehicle ground. It must be mounted as vertically
as possible, with the connection cable pointing downwards, and following the
assembly instructions and warnings from the manufacturer.
- The emission elements must be mounted in a position away from the vehicle
electronics.
- Installation of the antenna is possible anywhere on the roof. If the Body Builder
should move the antenna to another location, the remaining hole should be
properly covered, to ensure it is waterproof.
- The antenna wire should not be installed with bends.
- The wires should be as short as possible and be properly fixed.
- Do not to exceed the maximum transmission power allowed by each country.
WARNING
All electronic devices that are incorporated in the vehicle must comply with cur
-
rent legislation and be approved. Use of non-approved equipment or applying
additional amplifiers could seriously impair the proper functioning of the original
electrical/electronic devices in the vehicle, with negative effects on safety.
