5.3.11 Remote access
Basics of remote access
The remote access functions enable the interrogation and monitoring of data, as
well as the remote control of the product.
For remote control, the actions are divided into two categories:
Actions that apply to the entire product. You define the corresponding settings in
the device settings.
Actions that apply to a specific function. You define the required settings in the
corresponding configuration dialog of the respective function.
Difference between measured value output and remote access
In the case of measured value output, the product triggers the function (for example,
after you have tapped the Measured value output button).
In the case of remote access, the remote station triggers the transmission (for
example, the computer that evaluates the measured values).
Data transfer methods
The product provides the following data transfer methods for remote access:
Switching functions and position-dependent switching functions
Serial interface with RS-232
Ethernet with MQTT protocol
Ethernet with HTTP protocol (as a REST implementation)
Text-based data transfer methods (such as RS-232, MQTT, and REST) require a
protocol. You select the data transfer method in the settings under Data transfer.

Data transfer via switching functions
For remote access via switching functions, the change in a signal level at the
switching input triggers a function.
For remote access via position-dependent switching functions, a position value
triggers the change in a signal level at the switching output.
The switching inputs and switching outputs are assigned to specific actions based
on a list containing the currently available inputs and outputs. The list of available
inputs and outputs varies in the number of available connections, depending on the
product variant.

Data transfer via RS-232
Both devices have equal rights in transmissions via the serial interface RS-232. The
connection is permanent.
