Install Follower Cable
1. Install counterweight assembly. Refer to Section 4-8.
2. Install upper pulley and brake assembly. Refer to Section 4-6.
3. Reach in thebottom of thecolumn, retrievethefollower cableand position it
around the lower pulley. See Illustration 4-5.
4. Placetheball end of thefollower cablein thesmall squarecut-out in thecolumn.
5. Align thecarriagecablemounting strut over thebaseend of thefollower cable.
6. Placeball end of follower cablein slot on carriagecablemounting strut.
7. Replace top locking nuts on stud ends of main and safety cables.
8. Insert main safety cablestuds into carriagecablemounting strut holes.
9. Replace holding nuts on bottom of stud ends of main and safety cables. Do not
tighten at this time.
10. Make certain all the cables are still in their pulley grooves. (Follower cable is on
right sideas you look at it.)
11. Tighten themain cableuntil thereis no slack in thefollower cable.
12. Set follower cable to tension value found in Section 4Ć3Ć4. Tighten main cable
jam nut.
13. Apply Loctiteand tighten thelocking nuts.
14. Check that the carriage moves freely up and down the column.
15. Replace cover plate on the carriage assembly and secure with four binding head
screws. See Illustration 4-2.
16. Move carriage to top of column. This moves counterweight to bottom of column.
17. Install vertical column. Refer to Section 4-2.
