Pearl Mini User Guide
Manually start/stop an ad hoc event
Each channel recorded on Pearl Mini is uploaded as a separate file and appears in Kaltura's media list. The
name of each file includes the name of the channel plus the date and time the file was recorded. For example:
Channel 1_May23_10-12-05
You can start an ad hoc event using any of these methods, including the One Touch feature:
l
the touch screen on Pearl Mini
l
the Admin panel
l
Epiphan Live
For more information about how to record using Pearl Mini, see
The recording method you choose determines which channels get recorded. For example, you can start
recording a single channel or start recording all channels at the same time using One Touch control, see
.
For ad hoc events, you can enter the metadata to associate with the uploaded media using the Admin panel.
However, you can modify the metadata at any time using the Kaltura Management Console (KMC) after the
content is uploaded.
l
Description
: The description of the uploaded media that appears in Kaltura.
l
Tags
: Assign tags to the uploaded media for use by Kaltura.
l
Category
: Assign a Kaltura category to the uploaded media.
l
Owner
: The name you enter is the owner name that appears in Katura CMS for the uploaded media.
Important considerations
l
Before you start recording, we recommend that you enter the metadata you want associated with the
ad hoc event using the Admin panel. However, you can add this metadata later using the Kaltura
Management Console.
l
If an event is scheduled to start before the ad hoc recording ends, Pearl Mini automatically ends the ad
hoc event and starts the scheduled event.
l
You cannot start and stop an ad hoc event from the Events screen on Pearl Mini.
l
If AFU is disabled for a channel, the ad hoc event content for that channel doesn't upload to Kaltura.
l
If a new channel is created when CMS is enabled on Pearl Mini, AFU is disabled by default for that
channel. You must manually enable AFU for the new channel before it can be used for an ad hoc event.
l
After the event ends, it may take a while for content to show up in Kaltura's media lists, depending on
how busy the Kaltura CMS system is at that time.
To enter metadata for an ad hoc event using the Admin panel:
1. Login to the Admin panel as
