ELECTRO-METRICS EM-2115 2.0 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
(EM2115S2-30)
c.
When the controls are set as described, a display equivalent to the EM-2115 fre-
quency band range selected will appear on the CRT of the oscilloscope.
NOTE:
When the Scan Mode is set for Continuous, the sweep is auto-
matically started and continuously repeated.
d.
By varying the Scan Rate Control from CAL to MAX, the sweep rate can be var-
ied from 15 to 0.01 seconds depending upon the IF bandwidth selected. The
sweep rate of the oscilloscope is determined as follows.
1) CAL (FULL CCW):
Maximum sweep time--slowest sweep rate. For Continuous Scan Mode and nar-
rowest bandwidth, typical sweep time is 15 second. The sweep circuitry sets an
optimum sweep rate for the IF bandwidth selected.
2) MAX (FULL CW):
Minimum sweep time--fastest sweep rate. For Continuous Scan Mode and widest
bandwidth, typical sweep time is 0.15 seconds. For this switch position, the sweep
circuitry produces a sweep rate which is ten (10) times faster than in the CAL po-
sition.
e.
The Scan Width Control is used to set the sweep width of the spectrum display in
the Continuous Mode of operation.
1)
When set to FULL BAND (click stop), the sweep width is 100% (FULL
BAND) of the Frequency Range selected.
2)
When moved off FULL BAND (off click stop), the sweep width is variable
from 20% to 0.1% of the Frequency Range selected with the sweep centered
around the frequency set by the front panel Tuning Controls.
f.
The Marker Switch activates the marker function for use with the spectrum dis-
play on an external oscilloscope. The marker function is only activated in the
FULL BAND position of the Scan Width Control and corresponds to the tuned
frequency of the receiver.
The frequency of signals appearing on the CRT display can be determined by tuning the
receiver and placing the marker notch over the the signal in question. The frequency of the signal
can then be read directly from the EM-2115 front panel LED Frequency Display,
if the Scan
Mode is TEMPORARILY switched to Manual
.
NOTE:
For the narrower bandwidths of the EM-2115 (200 Hz or 1
kHz) a storage scope is required to visually see the waveform
on the CRT display due to the slower sweep speeds.
