Always verify that each device on the GPIB network is assign
its own unique bus address before activating the network.

Follow the Initial Power-Up procedure in Section 2.3.1.

Turn on the computer and initiate the software being used.

Connect the selected RF source to the EM-2115 Interference Analyzer RF Input
Connector. The EM-2115 and associated equipment is now ready for remote op-
eration.
2.5.2 Bus Address
The EM-2115 GPIB Address will be displayed on the front panel Amplitude Display if
the Local Switch is pushed when the receiver is in local.
The bus address can be changed whenever the receiver is in the Local Mode of Operation
using the front panel Attenuation Switches as follows:
Increase Attenuation
Switch:
Increases the bus address number.
Decrease Attenuation
Switch:
Decreases the bus address number.
2.5.3 Remote Mode Of Operation
With two exceptions, STATUS and FREQUENCY READ, any of the commands noted
in Table 2.1 will automatically switch the EM-2115 to the Remote (computer) Mode of operation
from the Local Mode of operation. The STATUS and FREQUENCY READ commands will only
return the data requested to the computer, the receiver remains in the Local Mode of operation.
This feature is useful for placing frequency and front panel control/switch settings data into the
computer when operating in the Local Mode of operation with the computer connected.
The front panel Remote LED is activated whenever the unit in the remote mode of opera-
tion.
2.5.4 Local/Local Lockout Commands
The EM-2115 may be commanded to lockout all the front panel pushbutton switches us-
ing a GPIB command. The local lockout command can only be cancelled with a GPIB "Go To
Local" command. The format of the ASCII commands are shown below for the HP-9836 Com-
puter.
LOCAL LOCKOUT:
OUTPUT 7ZZ;"LLO"
LOCAL:
OUTPUT 7ZZ;"GTL"
Where ZZ is the current bus address of the EM-2115.
If a Local Lockout has not been commanded, the EM-2115 may be brought into the local
mode by pushing the front panel Local Switch.
