Border Gateway Protocol (BGPv4)
– 960 –
threshold
– The percentage of the maximum number of allowed prefixes at
which the router will initiate the specified response.
restart
– Restarts BGP connection after the threshold is exceeded.
interval
– Time to wait after a BGP connection has been terminated, before
reestablishing the session. (Range: 1-65535 minutes)

Default Setting
No limit is set
Command Usage
◆
This command is used to control the maximum number of route prefixes that
can be sent by a neighbor. It provides a method to reserve resources for other
processes, or to prevent malicious attacks.
◆
If the threshold is specified, but neither the
restart
nor
warning
keywords are
used), the connection will be closed until the records are cleared with the
command.
Example
In this example, the router warns when the number of route prefixes reaches 6, and
the connection will be closed when the prefixes hit 13.
Console(config-router)#neighbor 10.1.1.64 maximum-prefix 12 50
