onie
This command configures the switch to install, rescue or update runtime code
under the open network installation environment (ONIE).
Syntax
onie
{
install
|
rescue
|
upgrade
}
install
- Installs a new operating system. This option will reboot the switch
and the ONIE install process will run again.
rescue
- Boots into the ONIE environment for troubleshooting. The
discovery and installer mechanisms do not run while in rescue mode:
upgrade
- Upgrades the ONIE version on the system.
Command Mode
Privileged Exec
Command Usage
When the switch powers up, ONIE will run and attempt to find an installer. This is
done by placing the installer code on a local TFTP server, and following the on-
screen instructions to load the runtime code.
Example
The ONIE install, rescue, and upgrade procedures can be run during system bootup
or from the CLI using the command options listed above. The following procedure
shows how to upgrade the switch runtime code from the ONIE loader backdoor.
1.
Power off and on the device, press any key to enter ONIE loader backdoor. Boot
up ONIE Rescue mode by using the following command.
LOADER=> run onie_rescue
2.
By default ONIE will try to request the IP address through DHCP protocol. A
default IP (192.168.3.10) will be set automatically if the request failed.
