Banner Information

This command specifies or modifies the host name for this device. Use the
no
form
to restore the default host name.
Syntax
hostname

no hostname
name
- The name of this host. (Maximum length: 255 characters)

The host name specified by this command is displayed by the
command and on the Show > System web page.

This command and the
command can be used to set the command line
prompt as shown in the example below. Using the
no
form of either command
will restore the default command line prompt.

Banner Information
These commands are used to configure and manage administrative information
about the switch, its exact data center location, details of the electrical and network
circuits that supply the switch, as well as contact information for the network
administrator and system manager. This information is only available via the CLI
and is automatically displayed before login as soon as a console or telnet
connection has been established.
