Suction System
Refl ux Eff ect
When the suction cannula adheres to the mucous membrane of the oral cavity or to the
tongue, a so-called refl ux eff ect may occur. To prevent cross-infection among patients
we recommend using suction cannulas with air-bleed openings. Here a defi ned bypass
airstream is introduced into the suction handpiece via lateral recesses. Even if the
cannula adheres to the mucous membrane of the oral cavity or to the tongue and is
thus blocked, a suffi cient airstream from the patient to the suction system (and not the
other way round!) is maintained.
To reduce the risk of infection, liquid-tight gloves must be worn during maintenance
work.

Remove the suction tube from the suction tube
retainer. By opening the slider or turning the
control knob, the suction power is active.
Open the lid of the fi lter drawer on the doctor´s device to clean the disposable fi lter
(daily) and replace it if damaged. The fi lter is designed as a disposable fi lter and
cannot be thermally disinfected.
Never work without a fi lter; otherwise there is a risk of parts settling in the tube holder
and impairing its function.
