Edition) or Cluster Service (Windows 2000 Advanced Server)

Solving Installation Problems
Problem
Possible Cause
Action
The error message “RPC Server is
Unavailable” is displayed.
Name resolution issue
1.
Ensure the server is
operational and that the
Cluster Service and the RPC
services are running.
2.
Check the name resolution
of the cluster. It is possible
that you are using an
incorrect name or that the
name is not being properly
resolved by WINS or DNS.
Cluster Administrator does not
appear in the Start menu.
MSCS may not have been
successfully installed.
1.
Uninstall MSCS (or any
pieces that may have
installed incorrectly).
2.
Reinstall the MSCS.
Processor may be overloaded.
Verify the processor is not running
at or near 100% utilization.
Node Performance is sluggish and
the node fails.
Paging file is too small. MSCS
may view the size deficiency as a
node failure and cause a failover
event.
Check the size of the
Windows NTS/E or Windows 2000
Advanced Server paging file.
