Selecting a Site
When installing your server make sure the site you select has the following
features:
A sturdy, level installation site that is air conditioned, away from other
heavy electrical equipment and has static electricity protection
At least 6 inches (15.2 cm) in front of and 3 inches (7.6 cm) behind the
server for proper ventilation and clearance for the CD-ROM drive tray
A dedicated and properly grounded electrical circuit for the server
WARNING: This equipment is designed for connection to a grounded
(earthed) AC outlet. The grounding type plug is an important safety feature.
To avoid risk of electric shock or damage to your equipment, do not disable
this feature.
CAUTION: Be sure that the power outlet you plug your power cord into is
easily accessible, located as close to the equipment operator as possible.
When you need to disconnect power to the equipment, be sure to unplug
the power cord from the power outlet.
CAUTION: Protect the server from power fluctuations and temporary
interruptions with a regulating uninterruptible power supply (UPS). This
device protects the hardware from damage caused by power surges and
voltage spikes and keeps the system in operation during a power failure.
