CD-ROM Drive Care
and Safety Precautions
Use the following precautions listed below to install, operate, or transport your
CD-ROM drive.
Installation
Avoid placing the drive in a location that is subject to high humidity,
extreme temperatures, mechanical vibration, or direct sunlight.
Always use the drive in a horizontal or vertical orientation.
Operation
Do not move the drive while it is operating. Moving it while it is
operating cause it to malfunction.
Avoid exposing the drive to sudden changes in temperature. Sudden
changes in temperature can allow condensation to form inside the unit,
causing it to malfunction.
Do not drop the disc or subject it to shock.
Transportation
Remove any CD before moving the drive.
If you remove the drive from the computer, repack the drive in the
original packing materials.
Safety
If any object or liquid falls into the CD-ROM drive, immediately unplug the
computer, server, or desktop expansion base and have it checked by an
Authorized Compaq Service Provider.
