Sealing Cable Entry Locations
Seal the cable entry locations to protect the cabinet against moisture, dust, pests, and other
contaminants. Use a silicon-based sealant or comparable compound.
ALERT!
The sealant package does not require tools to open or mix the
compound. Do not insert tools into the plastic nozzle or pierce the sealant
package.
To seal the cable entry locations
1.
Get the package of sealant compound from the installation kit.
2.
Mix the sealant compound inside its package per the manufacturer instructions printed
on the package.
3.
Open the cabinet's splice compartment door.
4.
Apply the sealant around open areas in the entry ducts where the cables/conduit enter
the cabinet. Seal all gaps around the cables. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to
apply the sealant.
CAUTION!
Check to ensure that all gaps are completely sealed. Gaps
allow penetration of moisture, insects, rodents, and other contaminants that
could damage equipment.
