4-18.2.4 Troubleshooting Guide
What might seem to be a malfunction in your unit may just be the result of slight misoperation or
miswiring. Before calling service, first check the following table for possible problems and solutions.

The pow er does not turn ON.
The fuse has blow n.
After checking for short circuits in the w ires,
replace the fuse w ith one w ith the same
rating.
There's no media inserted.
Set the media you w ant to listen to. If there's
no media in this unit, you can't sw itch to each
source.
The Disc changer isn't connectedConnect the Disc changer. If the Disc changer
isn't connected to it's input terminal, you can't
sw itch to an external disc source.
The m em ory is erased w hen the
ignition is turned OFF.
The ignition and battery w ire
are incorrectly connected.
Connect the w ire correctly, referring to the
section on
<Connecting Wires to
Term inals>
in your system ow ner guide that
came w ith the unit.
There's no loudness effect.
You're using Non-fading preout. Loudness has no effect in Non-fading preout.
The Non-Fading output can't be
turned ON or OFF.
The <Sw itching Preout> is set
on Rear preout.
Change it to Non-fading preout.
Even if Loudness is turned ON,
high-pitched tone isn't
com pensated for.
Tuner source is selected.
High-pitched tone isn't compensated for w hen
in Tuner source.
The Bass center frequency, Bass
quality factor, Bass extend, Middle
center frequency, Middle quality
factor, and Treble center
frequency can't be adjusted.
The
<System Q setting>
is
set OFF.
Set it ON.
The fader or balance settings
are set all the w ay to one side.
Center the fader and balance settings.
The input/output w ires or w iring
harness are connected
incorrectly.
Reconnect the input/output w ires or the w iring
harness correctly, refer to the section on
<Connecting Wires to Term inals>
in your
system ow ner guide that came w ith the unit.
The values of Volume offset
are low .
Increase the values of Volume offset.
The
<Built-in Am p Mute
Setting>
is ON.
Turn it OFF.
There's a source you can't sw itch.
No sound can be heard, or the
volum e is low .
