| Multicast Filtering Commands
Multicast VLAN Registration
mvr vlan group
This command statically binds a multicast group to a port which will receive
long-term multicast streams associated with a stable set of hosts. Use the
no
form to restore the default settings.

- Receiver VLAN to which the specified multicast traffic is
flooded. (Range: 1-4093)
group
- Defines a multicast service sent to the selected port.
ip-address
- Statically configures an interface to receive multicast
traffic from the IP address specified for an MVR multicast group.
(Range: 224.0.1.0 - 239.255.255.255)

Multicast groups can be statically assigned to a receiver port using this
command.
◆
The IP address range from 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255 is used for
multicast streams. MVR group addresses cannot fall within the reserved
IP multicast address range of 224.0.0.x.

IGMP snooping must be enabled to a allow a subscriber to dynamically
join or leave an MVR group (see the
ip igmp snooping
command). Note
that only IGMP version 2 or 3 hosts can issue multicast join or leave
messages.
