Section 8 - 4285/4286 VIP Module

4285/4286 VIP MODULE WIRING NOTES:
•
Wire the phone module exactly as shown, using a direct-connect cord and RJ31X jack.
•
If you do not hear touch-tones when pressing keys after phoning the security system via an on-
premises phone, try reversing the pair of wires connected to terminals 3 and 4 on either phone
module
and
the pair of wires connected to terminals 21 and 22 on the control.
•
If you hear an error signal (fast busy signal) when trying to access the system via the premises
phone, check for correct line seizure wiring.
You must connect the incoming telco line via an RJ31X jack and direct-connect cord, as shown in
this diagram, even if the system is not connected to a Central Station.
The 4285 or 4286 VIP
module will not function if this is not done.
The house phone lines (gray and brown wires) must be wired to the phone module terminals, not
to the control terminals. Otherwise, an error signal (fast busy signal) will occur when you try to
access the system from an on-premises phone.
•
If the telephone system on the premises includes a Caller ID unit, connect the unit
directly
to the
Handset terminals (21 and 22) on the control, as shown below.
