Documentation 109
Archiving Documents
You can archive documents to a CD or a PACS (if you have DICOM installed on your
scanner). See “Using CDs” on page 109 and “Using the DICOM System” on
page 111.
To archive all documents for a patient or examination or individual documents:
1
Click to select the patient, the examination, or the individual documents you
want to archive.
2
Click Archive CD or Archive PACS. (The one you last used is displayed. When
you point at it, a triangle appears to the right. Click to select the other archiving
destination.)
If you archive to a CD, you are asked for a volume name.
Format of Saved Documents
Image format
and labels
Images are stored in .bmp format and labelled with a code that specifies the date and
time the image was captured. For example, 2D_20041022_135426_FV12345.bmp
would be the label on an 2D image of patient FV12345 that was captured on October
22, 2004 at 1:54:26 P.M. (13:54:26).
Supported CD
types
The following media are supported:
•
CD-R (recommended for most purposes)
•
CD-RW
Caution: Be careful when you use the CD drive. Insert discs carefully. Do not use force.
Do not push the drive to close it – use the button on the drive when you insert or eject
a disc.
Using CDs
There are certain restrictions about copying and archiving to a CD:
•
You cannot burn both archived and non-archived documents to the same CD.
•
You cannot archive to a CD that is not blank.
•
You can copy to a non-blank CD.
NOTE:
CDs are vulnerable, and data may be corrupted when they are saved to
a CD. After you save, check the CD to make sure that your data are saved
properly. Remove the CD from the scanner before you turn it off because data
can also be corrupted when the scanner shuts down.
Staging Area
When you click Copy CD or Archive CD, the selected documents are not copied
immediately to a CD. They are moved to a staging area. You can add more files to
the staging area before you burn them to a CD.
