Various test-specific settings are on the Advanced pane.
When the Transmit learning frames prior to test checkbox is selected, the
RFC2544 test sends learning frames before the first test-step starts on
each port. This is used to train the network-equipment, so initial results
are more typical.
The receiver uses a filter to determine which frames should be counted in
the results. When the Include address in frame filter on receiver
checkbox is selected, the receiver uses the MAC and IP addresses of each
incoming frame in addition to the ‘filter key’ used by default.
If more than one test repetition is performed (by setting Test Repetitions
> 1 at the Duration pane), enabling the Accumulate repeated steps
displays only one repetition in the result window. This repetition holds
the accumulated results for all repetitions during the test.
Throughput can be calculated at different layers of the OSI model. Use
the Calculation Layer field at the layer where throughput should be
calculated.
All throughput calculations are averaged over 1-second measurement
intervals. To average across the entire Step Duration, set the
Throughput Type field to Average. Otherwise, the throughput values will
be the Maximum obtained during the step.
