Modbus RTU Setup
F.1 ACS880 Cooling Tower Drive
F.1.1 Modbus RTU Serial Communication Setup using built-in D2D (drive to drive) port
This document will guide you through the process of setting up the ACS880 Cooling Tower Drive for monitoring and control
over Modbus RTU using the following data in and out:

This guide assumes that the basic drive setup has already been done. This includes setting the Language & Units,
entering Motor Data and performing an ID Run.
Once this basic drive setup has been done, the following parameters will need to be set:
Group 76: CTD Motor Control
Program parameter PASS CODE (96.02) to 13 to allow access to fieldbus parameters.
76.03 Operating Mode = EFB
EFB = embedded fieldbus port, aka “D2D” link
Group 74: CTD Motor Control
74.01 Trickle Selection = EFB
Optional: Control could be programmed to the EFB or could set to
DIO1 if hardwired control is needed
Group 75: CTD Motor Control
75.01 De-ice Selection = EFB
Optional: Control could be programmed to the EFB or could set to
DIO2 if hardwired control is needed
