9.12.9.3 Configuring the Ethernet switch
In accordance with the general recommendations for the NeXspan solution, a sub-division into
VLAN must be used:
•
A VLAN comprising PT2/PVI/IPS cards and NCS
•
One or more VLAN containing SIP phones
•
One VLAN containing telephony servers (messaging system, administration, etc.)
•
One or more Data VLAN
Standalone phones:
Phones with a PC:
Phone configuration
(WEB interface/ aastra.cfg format)
Ethernet switch configuration
VLAN Enabled (no) / tagging enabled=0
Port in ‘access’ mode (CAD: no 802.1Q
marking). The port is in a ‘Phones’ VLAN.
VLAN Enabled (yes) / tagging enabled=1
Port 0 VLAN ID 20 / VLAN id: 20
Port in ‘trunk’ mode in VLAN 20. The phone
and Ethernet switch mark the frames in
802.1Q.

VLAN Enabled (yes) / tagging enabled=1
Port 0 VLAN ID 20 / VLAN id: 20
Port 1 VLAN ID 30 / VLAN id port 1: 30
Port in ‘trunk’ mode in VLAN 20 and 30. The
phone and Ethernet switch mark the frames in
802.1Q. The frames to the PC are marked; it is
the SIP phone that manages the marking to the
PC.
