9.1.2.2 Port VLAN Trunking

Enable V LAN Tr u n k in g on a por t t o allow fram es belonging t o unknown VLAN gr oups t o pass
t hr ough t hat por t . This is useful if you want t o set up VLAN gr oups on end devices w it hout having t o
configure t he sam e VLAN gr oups on int er m ediar y devices.

Refer t o t he follow ing figure. Suppose you want  t o cr eat e VLAN gr oups 1 and 2 ( V1 and V2)  on
devices A and B. Wit hout  V LAN  Tr u n k in g, you m ust  configur e VLAN gr oups 1 and 2 on all
int er m ediar y sw it ches C, D and E;  ot her w ise t hey w ill dr op fram es w it h unknow n VLAN gr oup t ags.
How ever, w it h V LAN  Tr u n k in g enabled on a por t ( s)  in each int er m ediar y sw it ch you only need t o
cr eat e VLAN gr oups in t he end devices ( A and B) . C, D and E aut om at ically allow  fram es w it h VLAN
gr oup t ags 1 and 2 ( VLAN gr oups t hat  ar e unknow n t o t hose swit ches)  t o pass t hr ough t heir  VLAN
