Charging the batteries

The internal battery is always charged automatically as
soon as you connect the power adapter to the instru-
ment and to the mains power.

You can charge the hot-swappable lithium-ion battery
either within the instrument itself or in an external char-
ger. If the lithium-ion battery is inserted, charging starts
automatically as soon as you connect the power adapt-
er to the instrument and to the mains power.

Internal charging

Charging starts automatically as soon as you connect
the power adapter to the USM 100 and to the mains
power supply. You can carry out ultrasonic tests and
charge the batteries at the same time.

The charging time is approx. six hours with simultane-
ous ultrasonic testing. If the instrument is not used for ul-
trasonic testing, the charging time is approx. four hours.
This charging time applies to ambient temperatures of
25 … 30 °C.

Charging status

All battery charge controls and status updates are inter-
nal to the USM 100. Updates are given at the upper right
corner of the display as described on the previous page.

The power adapter is a simple power supply with no
charging controls or intelligence.

External charging

ATTENTION

Only chargers recommended and supplied
by Waygate Technologies may be used for
charging. Do not use any other chargers for
charging the lithium-ion batteries for the
USM 100.
