7. Inflate the tire, observing the following order:
- centre the bead and lock rings relative to each other;
- inflate the tire up to pressure of 50 kPa (0.5 kgf/cm
2
) and make sure that the lock and
bead rings have not been displaced relative to their working position. It is advisable to inflate the
tire, when the wheel is set in its horizontal position.
If the wheel is set in a wrong position, deflate the tire, correct the position of the rings
and re-inflate the tires up to pressure of 50 kPa (0.5 kgf/cm
2
). When deflating the tire, disconnect
the air supply hose not from the wheel, but from a source of compressed air. It is allowed to dis-
connect the hose from the wheel only after deflating the tire completely.
If the rings have been reinstalled incorrectly, replace defective parts, make sure that the
bead and lock rin gs are ins tall ed prop erl y (at a p ress ure o f 5 0 kPa (0. 5 kgf/cm
2
), in-
flate the tire up to the pressure that ensures setting of the tire beads on the bead seat, and then in-
flate the tire up to its nominal pressure.
Contrary to the wide-spread design of wheels with conical bead seats, setting of the tire
beads onto the toroidal bead seats under increasing inner pressure does not happen gradually, but
instantly, usu all y at a press ure of 45 0-500 kPa (4 .5 -5. 0 kgf/cm
2
), which exceeds nomi-
nal pressure to some extent.
8. Mount the wheel onto the hub and fasten it, the tightening torque of the nuts fastening
the wheels should be 400-500 N.m (40-50 kgf.m).
To connect the wheel inflation hose to the wheel valve mount the wheel relative to the
hub cap so that the inflation hose is symmetric between the studs, fastening the wheel on the side
of the wheel valve.
When mounting the wheel, tighten the nuts, fastening the disk to the hub in the following
order:
- screw all the nuts onto the studs manually;
- first tighten the nuts by a wrench with the wheel being lifted. In so doing screw the
nuts, alternating them or crosswise. When screwing in the first five nuts, make sure that the nuts
are centered with their spherical chamfers in the spherical chamfers of the fastening holes of the
wheel disks. The nuts should be tightened securely, because their insufficient and uneven tighten-
ing can result in lateral runout of the wheels assembled with tires.
5.3.3.4.1 Balancing of wheels assembled with tires. In the course of operation, as the
tires are wearing and by other reasons (remounting of the tires) the initial balance infringes; there-
1 - bead ring; 2 - lock ring; 3 - bracket; A - slots on bead
ring; B - stamped-out mark on lock ring
