Shift the driven pinion closer to the drive
pinion. If the side clearance between the
teeth is too small in this case, shift the drive
pinion away

Adjust the steering axle kingpin bearings during the sixth maintenance works ТО - 15 000
(at 96,000 km). Follow the steps:
- dismount the wheels and put the supports under the bottom caps of the steering knuck-
les;
- dismount the left steering knuckle lever and the upper cap of the right steering knuckle;
- remove two gaskets from the gasket pack under the lever and the cap: one gasket of
0.05 mm thick, the other-0.1 mm thick; put 50 g of Litol-24 lubricant GOST 21150-87 to the lever
cavity and put the lever and the cap back in their place; tighten the nuts with the torque 160-200
N.m (16-20 kgf.m);
- put the supports away and remove the lower caps;
- remove the gasket pack 0.15 mm from under each cap [(0.05+0.1) mm;
- place the caps back and tighten the nuts with the torque 160-200 N.m (16-20 kgf.m);
- mount the wheels.
Wheel hub bearings adjustment:
- jack up the axle on the side of the wheel which is being adjusted;
- remove the hub cap;
- using a wheel puller disengages the axle shaft gear and the hub, pull the semi-axle out;
- unscrew the outer nut and remove the retaining and the locking washers;
