Use the following procedure to calibrate the instrument. 

Connect the instrument and the calibration equipment as shown in 

Figure 

4–1

. If an optional sample line filter is used, the calibration must be 

performed through this filter. Ensure that the flow rate into the output 
manifold is greater than the total flow required by the analyzer and any 
other flow demand connected to the manifold.

Use the following procedure to set the HCl reading to zero.

 

1.

 

Allow sufficient time for the analyzer to warm up and stabilize. 

2.

 

Adjust the dilution system of 

Figure 4–1

 so that zero air alone is 

present in the manifold. 

Since not all flow controllers have a positive shut off, it might be 
necessary to disconnect the HCl input line and cap it. 

3.

 

Allow the instrument to sample zero air until a stable reading is 
obtained.
