Lightspeed Live Capture User Guide
The Configure Source dialog provides these options for the SDI input sources:
•
Name
—Specifies the name of the source.
•
Force 10-Bit Video
—When enabled, activates full 10-bit sampling of the video on
the SDI input. Using 10-bit sampling requires additional processing and should not
be enabled for Standard Definition (SD) sources.
CAUTION:
When using an 8-bit leader, filler, or trailer along with the video, do not
enable the 10-bit sampling mode. Corrupted output can result.

PsF
—Enable PsF when your incoming SDI source signal is formatted as PsF (Pro-
gressive segmented Frame).
Note:
The Live Capture system always treats SDI sources with 23.98 fps or 24 fps as
progressive.
•
Freeze on LOS
—When enabled, a loss of signal (LOS) causes the incoming video
signal to freeze on the last frame. When disabled, LOS causes the LOS Video Test
Pattern to be displayed. For LOS details, see

Assign Processor (SD/HD sources only)
—When enabled, all processing associ-
ated with individual Capture or Tape workflows is assigned to a single multi-core
CPU socket. If four (4) workflows are capturing concurrently, each workflow process
runs exclusively on a single CPU socket, with two (2) workflows on socket 1 and two
(2) workflows on socket 2. This prevents inefficient mapping of processes across
CPU sockets during heavy loads, such as when all four inputs are being processed.
Not enabling this option when capturing multiple workflow channels can result in
excessive CPU usage.
Note:
This option defaults to ON (enabled) when capturing new non-4K SDI sources.
It should be disabled when capturing UHD/4K.

LOS Video Test Pattern
—Select the test pattern to display when there is a LOS.
•
LOS Audio Test Signal
—Select the audio signal to use when there is a LOS.
•
Max Time-Shift
—This value represents the maximum size of the Time-Shift frame-
buffer (in seconds) for workflows using this SDI source. The recommended value is
30 seconds, or less, and is limited to no more than 60 seconds.
Note: Time-Shift
—Live Capture’s Time-Shift allows you to hold incoming source
media frames in an internal FIFO buffer. You can choose to buffer up to 60 seconds of
media for each input on your Lightspeed Live server (some limitations may exist for
higher bit rates and frame rates). Caution should be taken when setting Time-Shift to a
value greater than 30 seconds on more than one input source. See
for recommendations on settings for various frame sizes
and frame rates. When a capture workflow is activated with Time-Shift enabled, the
input’s source media is stored in a FIFO buffer which allows Lightspeed Live to reach
