Calculating your Resource Usage Capacity
Use the processing resource charts below to determine whether your Lightspeed Live
server can process all of your desired Live Capture workflow's video codec
requirements. The charts are organized based on input signal type and list available
codecs used with each input type. Each codec is rated based on the resource
requirements needed to capture into the respective codec type selected, both for high
resolution Primary outputs and Secondary Proxy outputs.
Each Lightspeed Live server is capable of a maximum of one (1) full Resource Use Factor
(RUF). By adding all of your workflows resource requirements together, along with the
Time-Shift buffer limits from above, this can determine if your Lightspeed Live server
will reliably perform the tasks required.
To determine the Resource Use Factor for each workflow being concurrently processed
you will need to look at each workflow, determine the workflow's Resource Use Factor,
and add all of the workflow Resource Use Factors together. The resulting number must
be less than or equal to one (1). See the examples below. If your total Resource Use
Factor value is greater than one (1) you should modify your workflows to achieve a
Resource Use Factor less than or equal to one (1).
These calculations take into account the resources required for the Capture or Tape
actions only. Other actions, such as a Copy Action in Open mode, may use resources
that adversely affect the performance of your server. Always test workflows when the
RUF total is higher than 0.80.
