Checking the VTR Connection Status
Once activated the workflow's Monitor Status panel should return the status of
"Initializing: VTR connected" as shown in the following image.
If, instead, the status "Initializing: VTR not connected" is shown, proceed to the
following section:
Troubleshooting the VTR Connection .
When the VTR connection is successfully initialized, use the Tape Capture web app to
set recording parameters and control the VTR to ingest media from tape.
Troubleshooting the VTR Connection
If you have an active Tape Capture workflow that is configured as described above, but
its Monitor Status displays "Initializing: VTR not connected", you can attempt to solve
the problem using these troubleshooting steps:
1. Make sure that the RS-422 interface box is correctly installed, all adapters and
cables are properly connected, and the VTR is powered up. See
Appendix C: RS-422
VTR Interface for complete instructions.
2. Check that the Source input of the Capture action matches the RS-422 port that the
VTR is connected to. For example, when using SDI Input 1 for the Lightspeed Live
server in the Capture action you must connect to Channel 1 (CH1) on the RS-422
interface box. See
Connecting a VTR to the Lightspeed Live Server in Appendix C for a
diagram and details.
3. Check that the RS-422 interface box’s Serial Ports are shown in the server Device
Manager. Open the Device Manager and toggle open the “Ports (COM & LPT)”
devices. When properly connected, the ports of the RS-422 interface box will
appear as
USB Serial Port (COM3) through USB Serial Port (COM6) as shown in the
following image.
